OpenAI’s Gigawatt-Scale Data Centers Signal Massive Demand for Nvidia GPUs
OpenAI is laying the groundwork for utility-grade AI infrastructure, with plans for gigawatt-scale data centers in India, the U.S., and other locations. Each facility could require up to $50 billion in hardware—$35 billion of which WOULD flow directly to Nvidia’s GPUs and related systems. The scale mirrors Nvidia’s projection of trillions in annual AI infrastructure spending by 2030.
Oracle has already partnered with OpenAI to develop four undisclosed sites, while the AI firm seeks local partners to expedite construction and power procurement. Though funding details remain undisclosed, the buildout reinforces Nvidia’s dominance as the backbone of large-scale AI training and inference workloads.
